Brett's Projects

This picture pretty much sums up Brett's last project.  We made the mistake of ordered 10 cubic yards of mulch from the dump.  Unfortunately, the mulch was way too thick with sticks and roots and such...too thick to put on flower bed areas etc. Well, we didn't know what to do with this huge pile so Brett decided to rent a 900 lb mulcher so that we could actually use the mulch that we purchased.  This project happened to land on a windy 100 degree day and since we only had the mulcher for 1 day he had to do as much as he could in 1 day. Let's just say it wasn't a very fun day for Brett. He has done a lot of projects but he rates this as the crappiest yet.

Our new yard!  We will be hydroseeding next week so that we might have grass someday!

The big reveal

I am finally getting around to blogging the kitchen!  Here's before (I lost my original before pictures so I only have one):

So this project took 2x as long as we were expecting. We went to Sherwin Williams in January and bought the best paint, primer, and brushes they had.  We also bought some bead board for around the bottom.  The primer went on without problems; then came the paint. The paint we bought was a different kind of latex paint so that it would dry really hard.  It ended up being really hard to work with because it would dry super fast which would end up causing unwanted brush marks.  After 1 coat of primer, sanding, and then 3 coats of paint we decided to change paint because we weren't happy with the results.  We bought a different paint and did 2 more coats (and more sanding).  I am very happy we are finally done!

The end!

Projects

Brett has been extremely busy this summer with more projects.  All I can say is that he is a very high achiever.   If you remember the beginning of summer 2009, this is what our backyard looked like:

Pretty bad huh??
He worked hard, cut out sod, brought in dirt/mulch, and added trees which was much better,

But there was still one problem...

NO PATIO!!!
So the over Labor Day weekend we brought in some help...

Brett's amazing uncle Todd.  We seriously couldn't have done it without him!!!

Here's the final product:

Brett still has to build a stairway because we have no way to get from our backdoor to our new patio, it is in the works.
We LOVE having somewhere to sit in our backyard; it turned out amazing!

Oh, and by the way, Tate is feeling much better!! Thank goodness!
